Copyright and Tshirt Design

Today in Cybersmart we learned about Copyright and attribution. We learned that to use other peoples images you have to have permission or use "Free to use" images. 

In this task we had to design 3 tshirts: 

The first tshirt we used any image from Google Images. 

The second image we used a free to use image from the explore tool. 

The last image we created our own image that needed no attribution at all.

Scams and Phishing

 Today in Cybersmart we learned about Scams and Phishing. It's important to look hard at the websites go to, pop-ups, or emails we receive. Sometimes they might be scams of phishy.

We had lot's of fun figuring out what types of things we needed to look out for.

Replying to comments

 In Cybersmart today we learned the importance of replying to comments. 

We have gotten so good at commenting on other peoples work, and making sure they are positive, thoughtful, helpful. Now we wanted to make sure that we are replying to comments that other people send to us.

Team 4 Art Rotations

 Team 4 had so much fun during our Art Works Rotations. We made music beats, dances, photography and painting. In Ms Tumahai's class, we go to paint an emoji of how we were feeling at the time. 

Epro 8 Challenge

Room 11 got to do the Epro 8 Challenge this week. Their challenge was to make something that 

could be lifted. To make a crane was difficult, we had not heard of or seen this Epro 8 before. We tried our best with the little information Ms Tumahai gave us and it was a Challenge. We split into groups of 4 and carried this heavy case to space where we could start the challenge. We did well to communicate with each other but we were still confused. Ms Tumahai gave us a few suggestions which were helpful, and we were soon tying, tightening, pushing, pulling and winding things. None of our creations could lift anything but it was fun. 

 

Room 11 MoTaT Trip

What an awesome way to end a busy term. Room 11 went to MoTaT to learn more about 

coding. We got to code robots. We got to watch them race and crash, it was a lot of fun.

After coding robots, we got to explore MoTaT. We went to the old village church and Moi Moi said the karakia and we all joined in with him. We rode on the tram it was such a fun day.

We have been busy over the last couple of terms trying our best to be cyber smart on our Chromebooks.

I have certainly learned much more about doing things quickly and more innovative. The key here is for the students and me to try to work on incorporating this learning into our weekly planning.

How to embed different digital learning objects

 Embedding learning into our Blogs

There are lots of different types of digital learning objects we embed into our blogs on a daily basis.

My favourite thing to share on my blog is my drawing.

The easiest learning to share is my writing in Google Docs, simply just Copy and Paste it from the Google Doc onto your blog. However, don’t forget to use CTRL + SHIFT + V so that it gets rid of the formatting. You can always change the formatting on your blog.

Touch typing in Room 11.

In Room 11 we have been learning to be amazing touch typists. It is really difficult. Nooroa thinks touch typing is hard. Norman thinks it is a lot of fun because he wants to type like Mr Goodwin. Diana-Grace likes typing club because it helps her to be a good typist and she tries really hard not to look under her book. 

 

About Me in Google Draw

 

This week, during our cyber smart lesson with Mr Goodwin,  Room 11 learnt how to use google draw. We learnt to resize images, use different shapes and fonts, and use google search to find images that relate to who we are.

Google Draw

 As part of our classroom cyber smart learning, Mr Goodwin taught us all how to use google draw by drawing this fishbowl using the shapes and the curser line to draw rocks and seaweed. 

Mask on Mask off

 

In a mask on World, the students are finding it difficult to hear and understand instructions.  It's becoming quite exhausting trying to breathe through the mask, give the instruction the first time only to have to repeat it. My students can't see my facial reactions, so they can't see whether or not I'm happy or sad. 

We can't sing unless we are outside and we all know our kids loved to sing. 

I'm done reminding the students over and over throughout the day  " Nose to Chin" so now I say " If your mask has slipped down passed your nose then pop it back up" and this seems to be working better. 

There are so many complications in our mask on World, but our safety is important and for the time being, we must continue to do what we know and have been told.

In a mask off World, I want to see our kids entertain us again with their singing and performing, our kids shine in this area. I can't wait for this to happen. If we are happy and safe then we are learning. In small groups. We are able to be closer to each other. 

Google Maps

 

Mr Goodwin taught us how to use google maps today. We learned how to navigate maps to find our favourite places in Glen Innes. When we found a place we liked we to a screenshot and inserted our image into a google slide that Mr Goodwin set up. We wrote why this place was important. Here is a selection of our favourite places.

Term Activity Day

                                     

This activity day was planned by team 4 teachers as a good way for us all to get active, get to know each other and be part of a bigger team. We all saw this as an opportunity for all the students to be free to be outdoors in the fresh air and sunlight, reuniting with friends who they have not been able to see or be with, in a while.
