Collecting Data
In Maths we talked about graphs and why we have them and how important graphs can be. We talked about our pets and who had pets at home. Ms Tumahai drew pictures on the board, she drew a dog , a cat , a bird , rabbit and guinea pig from what the students said of the pets they had at home. Ms Tumahai asked who had a dog at home, and 6 students put their hands up. Ms drew 6 lines like this and then she asked the same questions with the other pets we have at home.
Ms Tumahai told us we had just collected information about how many students in Room 25 have pets at home. We collected our information using a telly. We are going to make a Pictograph of the information we collected from the students.

Gardening
We have started our project today to build box gardens around the Team 2 space. Mr Vogt and his very kind friends helped , encouraged and taught us how to use the tools we needed to make our gardens. The students had lots of fun. Our maths came in handy as well because we had to measure the wood which is exactly what we are doing in class.

Willow
On the last day of term I brought Willow to school. She is 6 months old and very cute. My students have been hanging out to meet her. The students learned how to make her sit and lay down. Some students were successful in doing this , Maddie was very good and was able to give Willow a treat. The students got to walk her a short distance and brush her coat.

MOTAT
Team 2 went to MOTAT this term as part of our inquiry into simple machines.
We piled into 2 buses with teachers and our lovely support staff and parents. We got to MOTAT and met with our guide Abbey who looked after us throughout the day.
We explored MOTAT looking at how simple machines have helped people in everyday life.
The education lesson with Abbey was fun because the students were able to carefully use some simple machines to help us make things. We put wheels on boards, we made lots of gears turn at once we also used tools to make a skateboard for the stuffed animals.
MOTAT was so much fun.

PENN Room 25 Term 2
We have been learning about how simple machines help us in the physical world. Our news looks at how a pulley makes it easier to lift heavy loads. Mr Jacobsen came to our space with his pulley and attached it to a bean in our space. We all got a turn at pulling up a bucket full of books. We tried lifting the bucket without the pulley and it was very hard. When we used the pulley it was much easier because Mr Jacobsen said that there are actually 2 ropes helping to lift the load.
We had a really cool afternoon. Thank you Mr Jacobsen for coming to our space.

Writing
Today for writing Room 25 and Ms Tumahai made play dough. Ms Tumahai made some kakariki (green), Whero (red), Kowhai (yellow) and kikorangi (blue) 4 different colous. The play dough was very sticky Eleni said the play dough was' squishy ' We had so much fun rolling and using the Ginger bread and Butterfly cutters. We then took a photo on our ipads and wrote about what we did.
Duffy Theatre
The Duffy Theatre came to Pt England school to entertain us today with their amazing singing, acting and their really cool props. This year their message was about being Kind and caring, brave and strong. I like the Duffy song and this year the girls did sign language while they sang. I thought the teacher was funny too.
